Pages and files

Organize, rotate, combine, split, extract and insert pages; print; export; shared copies.

Reorder, rotate, delete, combine, split, extract and insert pages; print; export; and make clean copies for other companies. All of this works in every profile.

How to organize pages

  1. Open Pages → Organize pages on the toolbar, or Document → Organize pages. The pages show as a grid of thumbnails.
  2. Select pages: click one, Ctrl+click to add or remove, Shift+click for a range, or Select all.
  3. Then:
    • drag pages to a new position,
    • Rotate left / Rotate right,
    • Delete (you can't delete every page),
    • use the slider to make the thumbnails bigger or smaller.
  4. Click Apply to make the changes, or Cancel to throw them away. Done leaves the page view.
  5. Save the document (Ctrl+S).

From the same view:

  • Extract pages saves the selected pages as a new PDF (named like name-p3-5.pdf). Apply other changes first.
  • Insert file inserts PDFs after the last selected page (or at the end if nothing is selected).

How to combine files

  • Quick: Pages → Combine files (or Document → Combine files), pick the PDFs. A small Combine files window lists them in the order they will be combined: put them in order with the up / down arrows (Move up / Move down), remove one with ×, or Add files. Click Combine (needs at least two files). The result opens in a new tab named after the first file plus -combined. Save it to choose where it goes.
  • With bookmarks and full control: Document → Combine files with bookmarks…
    1. Add files, Add folder (tick Include subfolders) or Add open documents.
    2. Put them in order with Move up / Move down.
    3. Choose A bookmark for each file, Keep each file's own bookmarks (nested under it) and Keep page labels.
    4. Combine. The result opens in a new tab.

Combining big drawing sets no longer freezes the window (fixed in 0.2.5).

How to split a document

  1. Pages → Split (or Document → Split).
  2. Choose Every N pages, By page ranges (e.g. 1-3, 4-10, 11-) or One file per page. The dialog shows how many PDFs you'll get.
  3. Split and choose a folder. The files are named name-01.pdf, name-02.pdf and so on.

Rotate pages

Use Rotate left / Rotate right in Organize pages, then Apply and save.

How to print

  1. Ctrl+P, the printer button, or File → Print.
  2. Pages: All pages, Current page, or a list such as 1-3, 5.
  3. Print opens the Windows print dialog.

Pages are printed as 150 dpi images at each page's own paper size, with your markups. To print many files at once: Batch → Batch print…

How to export

File → Export (download button on the toolbar):

  • Export flattened PDF: Burn markups into pages (no longer editable) and Burn form fields into pages, then Export PDF. Good for people who must not change anything.
  • Export as images: choose Pages, Resolution (DPI) from 72 to 600 and Format PNG or JPEG.

File → Export markups CSV writes the markups list for Excel.

How to export a shared copy for another company

When a drawing goes outside your team (for example from WOW Electrical to Baydo), estimating markups and anything private should stay behind.

  1. File → Export shared copy…
  2. Choose what goes along:
    • Include takeoff / estimating markups (off by default),
    • Include markups marked private,
    • Include takeoff data (panels, circuits, schedules, units),
    • Flatten markups (not editable by the recipient).
  3. The dialog shows "N of M markups will be included". Click Export and choose where to save.

The copy is a new file built from a clean copy without earlier saved versions, so removed markups can't be recovered from it. Your working file is not changed.

To keep a single markup out of shared copies, tick Private (left out of shared copies) in its Properties. Takeoff markups are private by default.
