Electrical: panels, circuits and wiring
Panels and circuits, assigning devices, panel schedules, wiring notation, EV parkades.
Electrical takeoff for WOW Electrical: devices on circuits, panels from the panel schedules, Canadian wiring notation and EV parkades. Needs the Electrical estimating or All features profile. The general takeoff workflow is in Takeoff.
The WOW Electrical tool chest
The company chest has receptacles (duplex, GFCI, weather-resistant, USB, dedicated, split, range, dryer), switches, dimmers and sensors, luminaires A1 / A2 / B1 / C1 / D1, exit and emergency, data / telephone / TV, fire alarm devices, intercom, EV tools, suite panels, meters, junction boxes, and runs for NMD90, AC90, EMT, homeruns and TECK90 feeders. The Door Access & Security chest adds label symbols for access control and security. See Tool chest and symbols.
Panels and circuits
Open Takeoff → Panels & circuits (lightning button on the right rail).
Add a panel by hand
- Under Panels, type the name (e.g.
LP-2A) and click Add panel. - Open the panel to fill in voltage, phases, mains, feeder and location, and Add circuit for each circuit (CCT, description, breaker). The devices on each circuit are counted for you.
Build panels from the panel schedules
- Takeoff → Extract schedule… and drag a box around the panel schedule on the drawing.
- The Schedules panel opens with the table. Cell colours show where each value came from: blue = SHX text, amber = OCR, red = low-confidence OCR, purple = AI, green = edited. Fix any cell by typing in it; Read with AI can fill difficult cells (if AI is set up; check them).
- Click Confirm.
- Click Create panel & circuits…, check the preview and click Add to project (or use Create / update panel under Confirmed schedules in Panels & circuits).
A panel made from a confirmed schedule is locked. To change it, use Propose a change (field, new value, note → Propose). A library admin approves or rejects it under Panel change proposals.
For luminaire schedules, Add luminaire types to tool library turns each fixture type into a tool.
How to assign devices to circuits
While counting: arm a WOW Electrical tool. In the tool chest, Assign new devices to lets you pick the panel and circuit; every device you click gets it. You can also pick the circuit in the Assign section of Panels & circuits and click Use for new devices.
Afterwards:
- Select the devices (drag a box, or select rows in the ledger).
- Right-click → Assign to circuit… (or Takeoff → Assign to circuit…), or use the Assign section: pick panel and circuit, Assign selected. Clear circuit removes the assignment.
Checking assignments
Panels & circuits lists:
- Assignment issues: Unassigned, Missing circuit, Missing panel, Panel mismatch, Spare in use, Outside suite. Click an issue to see the devices.
- Plan ↔ schedule: Circuits on plan, not in a schedule and Schedule circuits with no devices.
Review → Plan ↔ schedule report compares luminaire type tags and circuit tags printed on the plans with the luminaire and panel schedules. Click an item to go there; click again for the next place.
In Properties, Nearby tags shows circuit, cable and conduit tags printed near the selected device.
Wiring (Canadian notation)
Run tools carry a Wiring per segment note such as NMD90 14/2, 3#12 + #12G in 3/4" EMT or TECK90 3C#6. The ledger keeps cable metres, conductor metres and conduit apart, so nothing is counted twice. A note the app can't read is flagged ("Not understood in wiring").
- Select a run to see or change the wiring per segment in Properties (Use #1 for all segments copies the first).
- Wiring-method profiles (in Takeoff → Typical units): the wiring method per building area, from the specification. Runs in a matching area complete conductor-only notes such as
14/2with it, and are flagged when they differ. - Homerun arrow (schematic): shows connectivity only, never counted as length.
- Drops and makeup on runs: see Measure.
EV parkades
The WOW chest has EV stall array (stalls per click), EV-ready termination, EV charger Level 2, EVEMS controller (shared), EV panel (shared) and EV feeder TECK90 4C#3/0 (shared). Takeoff → Typical units → EV parkade sums up stalls, EV-ready coverage, chargers and EV panels. Shared distribution and EVEMS are counted as placed, never multiplied by stalls.
