iCOS PDF

Changelog

Every release, newest first.

  1. 0.2.9

    Latest version Download
    • New built-in user guide: Help → User guide (F1) explains every part of the app in English and Chinese, with search, and a ? button on the drawing guide and the symbol search bar opens the matching page.
    • Help → What's new lists every version and its changes; the version you have installed is marked.
    • Help → Send feedback… sends a bug report, idea or question straight to the iCOS Labs website, with your app version filled in.
    • Help → Check for updates… tells you when a newer version is ready and downloads the installer; the app also checks once a day by itself.
    • Company library: download the company's tool chests and assemblies from the iCOS Labs website with a library token; library admins tick which chests belong to it and publish new versions (tool chest panel → cloud button).
    • New website for iCOS PDF at icoslabs.com/icos-pdf: user guide, version history, downloads and feedback.
    • Angles now always need all three points; Enter, Finish or a double-click no longer finish one early, and pressing them too early no longer throws away the points you placed.
    • Right-click → Find similar symbols and Legend → Create and find all now also ask what to do with results still waiting, like every other new search.
    • Quick Combine lets you put the files in order (move up / down, remove, add) before combining.
    • Format-bar changes to a company tool now last until you close the app, also after arming another tool and coming back.
    • The Door Access & Security tool chest now shows in every Pro profile, including Drawing review and Other trades.
    • In Drawing review the status bar shows the armed tool with a × to stop it, and Ctrl+K can arm every tool the tool chest shows.
    • The Takeoff menu now offers every takeoff CSV: summary, items, detail and bill of materials.
    • The two bookmark buttons on the left rail are now called Bookmarks and Edit bookmarks; Right-click → Add to tool chest… no longer appears in the Office profile.
    • More of the Chinese UI is translated: page-scale and photo-limit messages, the status bar markup count, the length breakdown and the import message.
  2. 0.2.8

    Not available for download
    • New drawing guide over the drawing: for every drawing tool it says what to click next and how to finish (double-click, Enter, Backspace, Esc).
    • Finish, Undo point and Cancel buttons on the guide, so lines, areas and clouds can be finished on tablets without a keyboard.
    • The guide shows how many more points a shape needs, and the name of the armed tool chest tool.
    • Counts show how many items are in the current group, with Finish group (or Enter: the next click starts a new group) and Undo last.
    • New symbol search bar: found / to decide / accepted / rejected, with Check one by one, Accept the remaining and finish, Discard the remaining and finish, and New search.
    • Starting a new symbol search first asks what to do with results still waiting (count them, discard them or keep them for later), so searches never mix.
    • The drawing guide can be hidden with its × button; View → Drawing guide turns it back on.
  3. 0.2.7

    Not available for download
    • Markup tools in the tool chest: clouds, text boxes, arrows, lines, polylines, rectangles, ellipses, polygons, pen, highlights and notes with saved colours, line styles and arrowheads (no quantity), like Bluebeam's properties-mode tools.
    • Bluebeam .btx import brings markup tools across with Revu's colours, fill opacity, dashes and arrowheads; the Architect, Contractor and Engineer Review sets and My Tools import completely; Callout and Cloud+ keep their own names.
    • Right-click → Add to tool chest… now works on any markup.
    • While a tool chest tool is armed, the format bar shows and changes that tool's style (your own chests keep the change).
    • Fixed: tool chest tools lost part of their style after restarting (text colour, font, line style and arrowheads).
  4. 0.2.6

    Not available for download
    • Label symbols like Bluebeam device tools: a short code (CAM, CR, REX, C180…) in a box, rounded box, circle, hexagon, diamond or text only, with border, fill and text colour; same size on screen and in the saved PDF, and no count number beside them.
    • Tool editor: the symbol can be a Shape, a Label or an Image; estimating-only fields are hidden outside estimating profiles and wiring fields show only for electrical.
    • Right-click a text box, stamp, count, picture or measurement → Add to tool chest… (the Bluebeam way to make tools).
    • The tool chest is in every Pro profile; company chests follow your profile's trades, your own and imported chests always show.
    • New starter chest Door Access & Security: ADO, PB, CR, REX, DC, STK, ML, INT, CAM, C180, C360, OHG, MD, KP.
    • Bluebeam .btx import now brings drawing-mode symbols too: device text boxes become label symbols with Revu's colours, grouped symbols are drawn from their own geometry.
    • Text boxes are saved with Bluebeam's colour convention, so Revu shows the same border, fill and text colours.
  5. 0.2.5

    Not available for download
    • The window no longer freezes ("Not Responding") while combining files or opening large drawing sets: big files are now read and written in pieces.
    • Checking files on a slow or sleeping NAS no longer blocks the window.
    • Combining files and inserting pages no longer read whole PDFs on the main window just to count their pages.
  6. 0.2.4

    Not available for download
    • Profiles, like Bluebeam Revu profiles: Office, Drawing review, Electrical estimating, Plumbing & HVAC estimating, Estimating — other trades, All features. The first start asks which one you need.
    • Menus, the command palette, shortcuts, side panels, the status bar, tool chests and fields show only what your profile needs: a plumbing estimator or a site reviewer never sees panels, circuits or electrical tools.
    • Without estimating, the Takeoff menu is called Measure.
    • The profile button at the top right replaces the Simple / Pro switch; existing installs move from Simple to Office and from Pro to All features.
    • Quantities already in a file are never hidden: the ledger's trade filter lists the trades the document holds.
  7. 0.2.3

    Not available for download
    • Pro toolbar grouped like Bluebeam: split buttons for Text, Pen, Lines, Shapes, Insert and Measure show the current or last used tool of each group; the small arrow lists the group's tools with their shortcuts.
    • Page commands moved into one Pages menu on the toolbar.
  8. 0.2.2

    Not available for download
    • New format bar under the toolbar for the selected markups or the active tool: font (Helvetica / Arial, Times New Roman, Courier New), size, text colour, bold, italic, underline, alignment, line colour, width and style (dashed, dotted, dash-dot), line start and end (arrows, circles, squares…), fill and opacity.
    • The Properties panel is regrouped into Text, Line and Fill with the same controls.
    • Fonts, colours, dashes and arrowheads are saved the standard PDF way, so Acrobat and Bluebeam show the same.
    • Files now open at Fit page (Settings → Open files at can change it to Fit width).
  9. 0.2.1

    Not available for download
    • iCOS PDF appears in Explorer's Open with list for PDFs, and the PDF right-click menu gets an Open with iCOS PDF item (on Windows 11 under Show more options).
    • Only one copy of the app runs: PDFs opened from Explorer while iCOS PDF is open arrive as new tabs in the same window.
  10. 0.2.0

    Not available for download
    • Takeoff: tool chests (WOW Electrical, SET Plumbing and HVAC starters), Bluebeam .btx import, takeoff ledger with measured / derived / allowance, typical units, assemblies with BOM and labour, estimate snapshots and change comparison, CSV / XLSX and live export, quantity legends on the drawing.
    • Electrical: panels and circuits, assigning devices to circuits, panel schedule extraction, plan ↔ schedule checks, Canadian wiring notation, EV parkade rules.
    • Symbol search: Find similar, Legend → tools, Find all tools, and a Detections panel to accept or reject results with precision / recall figures.
    • Measuring: viewports (several scales on one sheet), drops and makeup on runs, typed lengths while drawing (12'6", 3.5m, 10<45), snapping to the drawing, auto-scale from scale notes, Bluebeam-compatible measurements and import of Bluebeam measurements.
    • Compare revisions: overlay, side by side and flicker with verified alignment, change clouds and word-level text changes, slip sheet (carry markups forward), change pricing, impact list, batch compare.
    • Sheet sets with AutoMark, links between sheets (Batch Link, back / forward), capture region, review packages and returned-comments merge, submittal stamps, as-built redlines and record drawing packages, drawing review checks.
    • Office tools: header / footer / watermark / Bates, page labels, bookmark editor, combine with bookmarks, batch processing and batch print, OCR, true redaction, sanitize, PDF/A-2b, layers, and shared copies without estimating markups.
    • Search all open documents or a whole folder, including AutoCAD SHX text.
    • Review rooms for live collaboration; iCOS sign-in, project drawings, RFI / QA-QC / task from markups, Save to iCOS, MR / RFQ drafts from the takeoff and price history.
    • AI (always reviewed before it counts): Ask the set with page citations, AI-drafted RFIs, schedule reading.
    • Menu bar, command palette (Ctrl+K), right-click menu on markups; new markups: field photo, link, table, space and polylength; tablets: pinch and pan, pen palm rejection, field mode and offline packages.
  11. 0.1.2

    Not available for download
    • First version in the history: a fast PDF reader for large drawing sets, with local, mapped-drive and NAS (\server\share) files.
    • Simple mode for the office: view, search, organize / combine / split / extract / insert / rotate / delete pages, fill forms, signatures, highlights, notes and stamps, export flattened PDF or images, print.
    • Pro mode for drawings: clouds, text, arrows, lines, polylines, rectangles, ellipses, polygons, pen, stamps; scale calibration (two points or presets); length, area (with depth for volume), perimeter, count and angle; markups list with filters, status, totals and CSV; saved tool presets.
    • Comments panel: every annotation in the file, including those from Acrobat, Foxit, Bluebeam and AutoCAD (SHX text), with replies and review status saved as standard PDF replies.
    • Panning with H, Ctrl or Space + drag, or the middle mouse button; Shift + click adds to the selection.
    • Saving appends to the file, so original content and digital signatures stay intact, and warns when someone else changed the file.
