AI assistant

AI settings, Ask the set with citations, AI-drafted RFIs. AI only proposes; you decide.

AI helps you read and write, but it only proposes: every draft and answer is shown to you before it becomes a record or a quantity. AI is off until it is set up, and the app works fully without it.

How to set up AI

AI → AI settings… (also in the File menu). Choose the Provider:

  • Off: AI features are hidden. Search still works without AI.
  • Company server (iCOS sign-in, no key on this device): requests go to the company's iCOS PDF server, which holds the key and checks your iCOS sign-in. Enter the Server address.
  • Anthropic API (own key) or OpenAI-compatible endpoint: enter the API key (and the Base URL for OpenAI-compatible). The key is stored on this device only and sent only to the provider you chose.

Pick the Model and Fast model if offered, then Save & test.

A review-rooms server can also carry AI requests: Review → Collaboration server → Use for AI.

Ask the set

AI → Ask the set opens a panel on the right.

  1. Type a question about the open drawings, e.g. "Which panel feeds suite 401 receptacles?"
  2. Choose All open documents or This document, then Ask.
  3. The answer comes only from text found in the drawings (including CAD text comments), with Sources. Click a citation to check it on the drawing.

Without AI, tick Find excerpts only (no AI): you get the matching passages with page citations, but no written answer.

Draft an RFI from a markup

  1. Select the markup(s) around the question.
  2. AI → Draft RFI from markup…
  3. The RFI dialog opens with an AI draft ("AI draft — check every word before sending"). Edit it, then Send to iCOS (iCOS).

Other places AI can help

  • Schedules: Read with AI fills cells that text and OCR could not read; those cells are marked purple for review (Electrical).
  • Compare revisions: AI summary of the changes, to be checked point by point (Compare revisions).
